A very interesting hiking tour along the Lousios Gorge, one of the wildest gorges and rivers of our country, here we will be immersed in an environment of wild and orgiastic nature.
The path begins from picturesque Dimitsana, famous for its exquisite stone houses and mansions. Also, known as one of the villages that contributed to the revolution against the Ottomans. In Dimitsana there is also a unique Water Power museum, which we can visit.
Hikers have the opportunity to visit two medieval (Byzantine) monasteries built on the vertical rocks, where the inhabitants sought isolation and protection in adventurous times. The Philosophos Monastery (which was founded in 963) and the Monastery of Prodromos (founded in 1167). They will also visit Asklepieion (the ancient sanatorium), dedicated to the god of medicine Asklepios, which is part of the ancient city of Gortyn at the end of the gorge. In this place we can enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters of the river Lousios.
Continuing on our hiking tour, our team will approach ancient Gortyn, where our will journey will end.
