Diros Caves Tour from Gythio

Overview

This tour starts from your hotel in Gythio, where your driver will pick you up and drive you through mountainous scenery and picturesque villages to Diros Caves. The caves are located in a cove on the west coast of Mani Peninsula, where they began to form hundreds of thousands of years ago.

The natural entrance of the cave is only half a meter in diameter and is very close to sea level. The route for visitors is 1,500 meters long, of which the first 1,200 meters is by boat on the subterranean lake. You will be given a life vest and your guide will use poles to journey through the caverns and tunnels.

Fossilized bones of wild animals and ceramics indicating human habitation have been found in the caves. The impressive white stalagmites and stalactites, the sparkling crystals and the striking curtains of dissolved rock will give a fairy tale atmosphere to the scenery.
