Overview

Discover the breathtaking beauty of Nafplion with an unforgettable tour, that combines culture and history with the tastes of the region. Meet your tour leader at the meeting point in Nafplion and head to Palamidi, one of the most important achievements of Venetian fortification architecture. Here you will see the Palamidi castle, which is still in excellent condition and follows the natural line of the 216-meter hill, dominating over the city of Nafplion. It was completed in 1714 to serve the Venetian military and naval operations of the time.

You will learn about the reign of Otto at the end of the 18th century, and how Palamidi became the cruelest prison in all of Greece. Our tour of the castle is very impressive. At the same time, during the reign of Otto, the clock was placed in Akronafplia, which came from Bavaria with the donation of the king's father. This will be our next stop, and undoubtedly the most beautiful part of the city, with breathtaking views. One of the most favorite spots for photographers.

Going down to the city center, we stop at the beginning of the harbor, fortified by Venetians with crenels and cannons to protect the city from invaders. You will walk to Syntagma Square, where the Venetian and neoclassical buildings such as the parliament and the Archaeological Museum dominate your surroundings. Also see the main street full of colorful shops and the Three Admirals' Square with the classic Town Hall building.

Learn about the long history of Nafplion, with stories that begin from the Venetians with its imposing castles and magnificent architecture and ends in the history of modern Greece, starring Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first governor of Greece.

Continuing on this charming tour, your next stop is at a typical Greek Deli. Here we will taste local delicacies, such as tasty cheeses and sausages, many different flavors of Olive Oil and several varieties of olives. Then you will visit a fully upgraded wine cellar, where you will learn about Greek wine and its history and get to know the unique varieties that are grown in the Nemea region.

After enjoying the wine cellar, you will head to the port of Nafplion to finish your tour. Here you can admire the Bourtzi castle, a Venetian fortress built on a nearby island, which stands as the most recognized attraction of Nafplion.
